In this post I share all about my redo experience with my As If Tee and why I am always a fan of frogging! ๐

Let’s be honest. When I say I am a fan of frogging, I only mean that when you have a knit or crochet item that just won’t get much use in it’s current condition…frog that baby!
I think the first time I really took this to heart was with my first knit sweater – My Simone Cardigan. You can find out all about that and how I became a serial frogger (LOL) [here]. The yarn was too special to waste. And I was too determined to wear my first knit sweater on the regular! But I digress…
round 1
This was my As If Tee the first time around. (Find the full blog post about that [here]) As you can see, it’s wearable, but I just wasn’t quite happy with the fit. I was so excited to finish the first time, that I didn’t make the back long enough. It fit ok, but I knew that I wouldn’t wear it very often. And this pair of shorts may have been my only option for bottoms to wear with it. Hahaha ๐ Also, This Spectrum Fibre yarn was wayyy too pretty to not get worn ALL the time. It was birthday splurge yarn for me, so my only option was to take it apart.

It took me almost a year to get around to making it again, but It was totally worth the wait! I made a size 3 the second time around and was sure to add plenty of length. Because my yarn was DK weight instead of Aran – like the pattern called for – my measurements are slightly smaller than the pattern measurements. My finished length was 16 1/4″ and my finished circumference was close to 39″. The size 3 pattern length measurement was 17 1/4″ and the circumference was 44 1/2″
I do have to say, if you can avoid frogging mohair, definitely do! Although I am a fan of frogging for the purpose of remaking, I am NOT a fan of frogging mohair! It was extremely hard to take out, and the next time I use mohair, I will make absolutely sure I have my measurements right before binding off. ๐ I also wet-blocked my sweater the first time around. The second time, I only steam blocked it. Wet-blocking again is definitely in it’s future tho because the yarn is still slightly crinkled from the redo.
final thoughts

My new As If Tee Is the perfect length and I couldn’t be happier that I redid it. I know I will wear it frequently. And It makes me so happy to have another knit piece in my wardrobe! I have now frogged all sorts of projects (I’ll probably do a blog post on that in the future ๐ ) in order to give special yarn a new life. And I’m sure I will continue to live by that philosophy. If you have ever gone back and forth about frogging something you weren’t 100% happy with, I say go for it! I have never regretted it and don’t think I ever will.
