I loved the graphic print on this sweater and thought it was a great opportunity to mix in some neon cause y’all know, I love me a neon! ๐
I have been in love with this color combo for a while – almost 3 years now to be exact! Here’s a little flashback photo I posted on Instagram in 2017. It was a crochet sweater that I started but never finished…Thinking now I need to revisit this design…anywhoo, back to my Marpha Sweater! ๐
The We Are Knitters colors I used:
- Ochre – Color A
- Navy Blue – Color B
- Neon fuchsia – Color C
This is a really fun intarsia knit project, and if you’ve never done intarsia before, no worries! It’s definitely not as hard as it looks! I mention a couple things to know with intarsia in my video below.
all the details
This kit is labeled as intermediate, but I really think you could get the hang of it even as an advanced beginner. We Are Knitters has lots of helpful tutorials that go along with their patterns! Skills involved for this sweater include basic increases, picking up stitches, casting off in the middle of a row and seaming.
I did not make a gauge swatch for this pattern, but I definitely recommend doing that. I’m trying to be better about checking gauge, but sometimes I just get too excited and rush right in. ๐
I made a size medium which seems to work well for me in We Are Knitters patterns. It gives me that cozy over-sized fit that I love. My Simone Cardigan was also a medium. [Click HERE for my blog post about that sweater] I think that’s why I felt comfortable starting without checking gauge, but I still advise it. ๐
The only adjustment I made was adding 12 rows to the sleeves. I love a nice long sleeve that comes over your hand…Anyone else?? ๐ I just continued with the increase repeat that was stated in the pattern. My sleeves ended up being about 5″ longer than the pattern measurement.
I did block my finished sweater and the front and back ended up being about 5″ longer as well. My width was only about 2″ wider than theirs.
Even with my measurements being slightly larger than theirs, I was still able to design a beanie out of my leftover yarn! Yay for those scrap yarn wins!! ๐
