Now, these awesome fiber finds are not necessarily in order, they are just my top 5 favorite yarn brands at the moment. I highly recommend them all and I’m not just saying that because I have an affiliate link. Before I even started my blog, I used each of these yarn brands. I will show you a few of the fiber products I have used from them and the projects they turned into. I cant wait to try even more from each of these brands!
favorite yarn brand #1:
knit collage
My love affair with Knit Collage began in 2017 when I bought my first skein on sale. I can’t remember exactly how I discovered Amy Small’s glorious fiber creations (maybe Instagram), but once I did, I was hooked! I know I said these weren’t in order, but I do think Knit Collage is actually my #1 favorite yarn of all time!
As you can see in the above photo (LOL), I was over the moon to dive into this eclectic, beautiful ball of goodness. The details and embellishments make me smile every time I look at them! Each skein is carded and hand-spun in India by a group of super talented ladies.
One of my most recent patterns is this Snowball Blossom Cowl knitting pattern. I used Knit Collage Friendship Bracelet yarn for it and I just love the texture and subtle pops of color it has! You can find that free pattern [here]. I also have two other designs that I’ve used Knit Collage for – the Cloud Catcher Beanie and my La Vie Boheme Cardigan. I will no doubt be using this special brand for future designs!
Although I wish I could purchase Knit Collage on a regular basis, It’s definitely what I consider a ‘splurge yarn’. I have been so fortunate to be able to use it for several projects. This spring I was ecstatic to be a part of the Knit Collage KAL (knit-a-long) for the first time. I made the Sunburst Pillow and it is just the most fabulous cushion ever! Blog post coming soon about that!
If you have the opportunity to get your hands on this awesome fiber find, make sure you do! You will not be disappointed.
favorite yarn brand #2:
spectrum fibre
Up next, the insanely talented color genius Briony and her hand-dyed yarn company Spectrum Fibre. I mean, seriously, click that link and see all the goodness! My eyes could literally explode from all the color crushing happening from this brand! I have so many colorways of hers on my wish list and can’t wait till I can purchase another set of hanks!
I had followed Briony for a little while on Instagram before using her yarn. But, I was actually gifted some of her yarn by my friend Becka from Renee & Burt. That skein combined with some sparkly yarn from Renee & Burt was the inspiration for my Unicorn Sparkle Beanie pattern. You can find that free pattern [here]! As you can see, the colors are just so vibrant and beautiful!
I then, purchased these beauties shown above for my As If Tee. The yarn I chose was a DK in Ice Lollies and a mohair in Dusty Rose. I knew this pattern from Shay Johnson needed a super special yarn and Spectrum Fibre was my brand of choice! You can find a full blog post about that project [here].
I have approximately 8,547 π colors on my wish list from Spectrum Fibre and I’m sure you guys can see why this is one of my top 5 favorite yarn brands!
favorite yarn brand #3:
we are knitters
We Are Knitters has a special place in my heart because their Simone Cardigan kit was actually the first knit sweater I ever made! I wrote a full blog post about what I learned during that process – you can read that [here]. They have awesome kits with patterns that are super easy to follow and can we just talk about the squish of The Wool?! I mean, It’s magnificent!!
I have used their wool and cotton and both are so high quality! They come in beautiful shades of color as well. I obviously can never pass up a neon or bright color, so those are usually my choices. π
We Are Knitters Petite Wool is also fabulous and I used it on my Marpha Sweater. It has the same great squish, just on a smaller scale. I even had enough yarn left over from my kit to design a beanie with it – the Color Outside The Lines Beanie shown above. That free pattern is available [here]!
I’ve now made 3 We Are Knitters kits and can’t wait to try even more! I also have a fun new design in the works that uses this gorgeous pyramid of color! It’s safe to say I will be using We Are Knitters for lots more projects in the future. I highly recommend them and It’s not hard to see why they are one of my top 5 favorite yarn brands!
favorite yarn brand #4:
melanated boho bae
This next yarn brand is not only a fiber favorite, but a maker favorite! Amanda is the coolest and sweetest person, and I’m so glad I’ve had the opportunity to use her exquisite yarn as well as interact with her on Social Media! I even had the pleasure of interviewing her for my Meet The Maker series. You definitely want to give it a read – find that [here]!
Amanda’s color and texture choices are so eye catching and her eclectic boho style brings so much joy to all of her creations! I love how unique Melanated Boho Bae is and I cherish each hand-spun piece that I’ve been able to get my hands on. I always want to find just the right design and project for her fiber. Above is my Total Eclipse of The Heart Sweater that was specifically designed around those beautiful skeins.
I have to show y’all my most recent purchase from Amanda! Just look at that ball of neon goodness!! I am brainstorming for the perfect design that will do it justice! Can’t wait to knit or crochet this baby up! Make sure you sign up for the Melanated Boho Bae newsletter so you can be the first to know when the shop is updated!
favorite yarn brand #5:
wool and the gang
I would first like to start out by saying Wool And The Gang (in my opinion) hands down has the best cotton ever! The weight and texture are an absolute dream and it results in the most beautiful and elegant drape. If I want to make a garment with cotton, I will search there for a color first!
Originally, I bought these Shiny Happy Cotton shades shown above for a crochet design, but later decided to use them for a Happy Love Co sweater pattern. I mean, I just cant get over how soft and cozy this yarn is. I need to make something with more of it ASAP!
In addition to the cotton, their Disco Down Yarn is another reason it made it to the top 5 favorite yarn brands list! The sparkle is magnificent and the texture is like you are working with soft chain. I love this gold, but also cant want to try the other two shades as well!
Last Christmas I decided to give knitting socks a go. I had my eye on the Wool And The Gang Kinda Magic Socks kit. It was so hard to pick a color because they are all super cute! So naturally, I just got three different ones. π I love learning how to make new things and these socks have been a great challenge for me.
Next on my list to try from Wool And The Gang is their Crazy Sexy Wool, particularly in the colors Love Heart and Rainbow Green! Love them both!! Make sure you check them out!
here’s a video featuring my top 5 favorite yarn brands. don’t miss out on all the fiber goodness. press play!
