Y’all know I love me a unique and colorful yarn! It was an absolute treat to be able to pick out some of Darn Good Yarn’s fabulous fibers! I chose the Sari Silk Ribbon Yarn in Sea Foam and the Worsted Weight Silk Roving Yarn in Watercolors.
This yarn is handmade in India and provides safe and steady employment for it’s residents. There are also a lot of recycled and reclaimed elements. Creating sustainable and fair jobs as well as respectfully sourcing supplies is top priority for this wonderful company.
Can we all take a moment and admire the vibrancy of these beauties! Turquoise is my favorite color. And this shade is a dream! Also, the Silk Roving Yarn has the most amazing texture. It is suuuper soft!
diving in
One of the most fun things for me is seeing how the yarn works up in knit or crochet form. I honestly am going back and forth about whether to create a knit or crochet design with this amazing fiber….what do you think? I’m pretty sure I have decided I want to combine the two yarns, though. I think it will be such a beautiful marriage of color and texture!
Since I am having trouble deciding, maybe I should go for a design with both! π Can you even with that rainbow of knit and crochet?! If only I could add a heart eye emoji right here! I love the definition of each stitch this Silk Roving Yarn gives whether knitted or crocheted. The thick and thin texture is also one of my favorite parts. Texture is my jam and both of these Darn Good Yarns deliver in that area!
Another thing that I just cannot resist is a raw edge! You guys may remember my fabric yarn tutorial. π (Click [here] If you’d like to check it out.) To me, it just amps up the visual interest and gives you a cool creative vibe. This Sari Silk Ribbon Yarn has those pretty raw edges I mentioned, and the gradient of turquoise color is fabulous! Together they create this light and airy ombre effect.
here is a video from my darn good yarn review unboxing. p.s. there may be some really fun mountain knitting footage involved. π press play!
in conclusion
I hope you enjoyed checking out this beautiful Darn Good Yarn with me. And that you have maybe gained some inspiration for your own projects using this fantastic fiber! I loved learning more about the heart behind this company and I can tell you right now, I will definitely be creating with more of it in the future! Happy making, y’all! π
