crochet starburst stitch:
Make your chain row in multiples of 8 + 1. I used a SC row for my base, so I added an extra CH (multiple of 8 +2). My CH count for this swatch is 26. You can make it with or without the SC row at the bottom, just remember to add 1 extra CH if you do decide to make one.
If you made a SC row, turn your work and do not CH.
Row 1: skip 4 STS, 9 DC in next ST, skip 3 STS, SC in next ST, *skip 3 STS, 9 DC in next ST, skip 3 STS, SC in next ST; REP from * to end.
double crochet together
1.) YO, insert hook in ST 2.) 3 loops on hook 3.) 2 loops on hook
- Begin just as you would for a DC – YO, insert hook in ST.
- YO, pull up a loop – 3 loops on hook.
- YO, pull through first 2 loops on hook, but do not complete your DC – 2 loops left on hook.
- REP steps 1-3 for as many STS as the pattern calls for (below shown is a 9 DCTOG – 10 loops on hook).
- YO, pull through all loops on hook.
- Your completed 9 DCTOG will look like this.
4.) REP steps 1-3 5.) YO, pull through all loops on hook 6.) completed 9 DCTOG
starburst stitch continued…
Row 2: turn work, CH 3, skip 1st SC, 4 DCTOG over next 4 DC, *CH 4, SC in next ST, CH 3, 9 DCTOG over the next 9 STS; REP from * to last 9 DCTOG before end; CH 4, SC in next ST, CH 3, 5 DCTOG over 4 DC and CH 1.
Row 3: turn work, CH 4, 4 DC in the top of 5 DCTOG, *skip CH 3, SC in next SC, skip CH 4, 9 DC in top of 9 DCTOG; REP from * to last 9 DC before end; skip CH 3, SC in next SC, skip CH 4, 5 DC in top of 4 DCTOG.
Row 4: turn work, CH 4, skip first DC, 9 DCTOG over next 9 STS, *CH 4, SC in next DC, CH 3, 9 DCTOG over next 9 STS ; REP from * to last 9 DCTOG before end; CH 4, SC in top of CH 4 from beginning of previous row.
Row 5: turn work, CH 1, skip 1st SC, *skip CH 4, 9 DC in top of 9 DCTOG, skip CH 3, SC in next SC; REP from * to end (last SC will be in the bottom of CH 4 from beginning of previous row).
REP rows 2-5 until you reach your desired project length.
